Auxiliary camera field trial announcement and communication guidelines 🌻

To all of our teams - PSMs, Sales, TAMs and others - as part of our rollout plan for auxiliary cameras, we will begin field testing in a few weeks, aiming to collect feedback from a small group of partner resellers before releasing to the general public.

We’ve put together information and details about the auxiliary camera field trial in order to help you prepare for next steps. Find all the juice in this letter.

During the trials, we will:

track and monitor the quality of recordings from the auxiliary cameras
ensure everything is working properly
provide technical support to partner resellers
collect and evaluate feedback from field trial participants regarding the ease of installation and pairing
adjust design if needed and refine the camera based on any design adjustments
repeat until field trial is evaluated as successful based on our pre-determined success criteria
release to the general public

3.12 release package

Team, the AI-12 3.12 firmware version is in rollout, with General Availability (GA) targeted for late September.

We prepared a release package that includes all the supportive assets to help you learn about the firmware's features, how to talk about them, and take them to our partners.

⚠️ Code Red: Inadvertent AI-12 dashcam remote factory reset

On Sunday April 17^th, 2022, a remote factory reset command was inadvertently sent from the North American Surfsight cloud to 31,536 of our partners’ devices.

We are sharing an internal document with you explaining the details of this incident.

This message is only internal at this time.

Our engineering team is currently organizing a detailed list of affected devices; we will be in touch later this week with specific details as well as officially approved guidelines around messaging.

Accordingly, all employees are asked to refrain from speaking about this unless directly asked. If directly asked, please let your partners know that you’ll be in touch with details later this week.

Supporting collaboration across fleets and organizations

As you all probably already know, we’ve started releasing a variety of features that support collaboration between partners, and collaboration with “external” users.

Going forward, please refrain from using the term mixed fleets when discussing any these features. Mixed fleets, in our industry, refers to fleets that consist of multiple types of vehicles. For this and other reasons, using the term for our product features can cause confusion.

Our Release Notes documents and other product documentation correctly refer to these features with descriptive phrases. You can refer to these documents for help in describing any of the Surfsight features.

Knowledge base images

The vendor that we work with for publishing updates has informed us that this a known issue that they’re actively working on remedying. As soon as the issue is fixed, we’ll also update publications as well. You’re welcome to share this information with any partners if they inquire.

Just a small update to calm any anxious souls: Surfsight offerings do not use Java in their code :) However, since we also rely on third-party vendors and platforms, and so forth, Lytx has diligently verified the security of our products and platforms.
